The park bench was deserted as I sat down to read.
Beneath the long, straggly branches of an old willow tree.
Disillusioned by life with good reason to frown,
For the world was intent on dragging me down.

A young boy out of breath approached me, all tired from play.

And said with great excitement, "Look what I found!"

In his hand was a flower, and what a pitiful sight,

The weed before me was dying or dead.
Not vibrant of colors: orange, yellow or red.

So I reached for the flower, and replied, "Just what I need."

But instead of him placing the flower in my hand,
He held it mid-air without reason or plan.
It was then that I noticed for the very first time
That weed-toting boy could not see: he was blind.

I heard my voice quiver; tears shone in the sun
As I thanked him for picking the very best one.
You're welcome," he smiled, and then ran off to play,
Unaware of the impact he'd had on my day.

I sat there and wondered how he managed to see
A self-pitying woman beneath an old willow tree.
How did he know of my self-indulged plight?
Perhaps from his heart, he'd been blessed with true sight.

Through the eyes of a blind child, at last I could see
The problem was not with the world; the problem was me.
And for all of those times I myself had been blind,
I vowed to see the beauty in life,

For mostly when I pick up a pen
It's usually to late.
The thoughts come and go so fast
the pen cannot relate.
The verses fly into the wind
I write before it's too late.

The jumbled words fly before my eyes
I'd like to put them down on paper
Before I realize
that all the things I'd like to say are jumbled in a maze.

How to keep the thoughts all straight
I really don't know how.
I try to do my very best,
Just like now.

Sometimes the lines are funny,
Sometimes they are dear,
But always worth reading
Though often not very clear

When I talk
Of love and such,
I wonder if
it's too much.

But if it makes someone smile
I know I've done my best.
And if it makes your heart melt,
Well you know the rest.

So when the urge to write comes on
I quickly pick up a pen,
For I never really know
If it will pass this way again.

I took this pic of parrot in an indoor tropicle jungle in virginea....the jungle was luvly and beautiful but not as livley as outside jungle ...miss the freshness...i was able to capture few birds as they wr flying here n thr ....this parrot was still for sometime n playing vt leaves...i remember of a movie"Pauli"a story of baby parrot named pauli...a luvly movie
